Safety and Training Advisor (Maternity Leave Contract - up to 12 months)

What you'll be doing

  • Develop, implement and maintain Council's safety management system in consultation with WHS Manager and key stakeholders.
  • Identify and monitor relevant WHS legislation; codes of practice and guidelines.
  • Assist with the facilitation and coordination of Council's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Ensure systems and registers are up to date and maintained.
  • Assist with accidents, incidents and hazard investigations.
  • Coordinate internal safety audits.
  • Assist with the administration of workers' compensation claims, rehabilitation and return to work programs.
  • Assist with job and workplace redesign.
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct workplace health and safety training and inductions.
  • Coordinate WHS Committee meetings and manage associated administration.
  • Provide guidance, advice and support to all employees.
  • Travel to remote communities within Cook Shire Council area and overnight stays

What we're looking for

  • Certificate IV or higher qualification in Work Health and Safety and/or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service and agility skills.
  • Sound analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data management programs.
  • Current Construction White Card.
  • A current QLD Driver’s Licence.

Tenure:

Full time fixed term contract - up to 12 months

Remuneration:

Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017 – Level 4 - 6 subject to qualifications and experience

$82K  - $98k per annum + applicable allowances

Leave Entitlements

5 weeks annual leave

15 days personal leave

Superannuation

11.5% Superannuation contributions
