Customer Service Officer - Part Time

Cook Shire Council is seeking a Customer Service Officer to join our dedicated front office team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves engaging with people and take pride in delivering top-notch customer service. You will assist customers across a range of channels — in-person, phone, email, and online — ensuring a positive and professional experience. You will also process applications, handle payments, manage bookings and enquiries, and support other administrative functions that keep Council operations running smoothly.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide exceptional customer service to the Community.
  • Respond to enquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Accurately process payments, receipts, and end-of-day reports.
  • Support mail processing, venue bookings, and application handling.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold Council’s standards and values.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.

What we're looking for

You will be a friendly, proactive, and detail-oriented individual with a passion for excellent service. 

  • Qualifications and Experience in Customer Engagement, Business Administration, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Cash handling experience and confidence with EFTPOS and financial systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using corporate or records management systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritise, and work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.

Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A: Division 2, Section 1) Award – State 2017 Level 2 to 3 dependent on qualifications and experience 

$71,996 to $77,302 p.a. + Locality Allowance paid on pro rata basis

12% Superannuation contributions
