Plumbing & Drainage Inspector

What you'll be doing

  • Inspect and assess plumbing and drainage work to ensure it meets legislation, codes and standards.
  • Approve or refuse applications and issue compliance notices when needed.
  • Maintain important compliance registers, including trade waste, backflow prevention, and on-site sewage facilities.
  • Give practical, expert advice to plumbers, builders, developers and the public.
  • Mentor team members and support Council’s infrastructure projects when needed

What we're looking for

  • A Queensland Plumbing and Drainer’s Licence (with or working towards endorsements like Backflow Prevention, TMVs, Solar/Heat Pump Hot Water, On-site Sewage Facilities).
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing and drainage compliance and legislation.
  • Great problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical plans and codes.
  • Someone who brings a solutions-focused mindset to streamline processes to improve service delivery and communicates with clarity and empathy, balancing regulatory enforcement with a commitment to excellent customer experiences.
  • someone who Identifies and delivers cost savings through smarter work practices and leverages emerging technologies to enhance inspections and reporting.
  • Champions a culture of collaboration and mentoring, helping others grow their technical and customer service skills
  • A Queensland Class C Driver’s Licence and a Construction White Card

76 hours per fortnight
9 day fortnight (every 2nd Friday off) 

Remuneration:

Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A: Division 2, Section 1) Award – State 2017 - Level 6 to 7  dependent on qualifications & experience 

$93,289 to 105,363 per annum + locality allowances 

Leave Entitlements

5 weeks annual leave

15 days personal leave

Superannuation

12% Superannuation contributions
