Do you love the water and enjoy helping people of all ages build confidence, skills and safety in the pool? 
Cook Shire Council is seeking an enthusiastic Swimming Teacher on a casual basis to join our friendly team at the Cooktown Community Swimming Pool.

About the role

As a Casual Swimming Teacher, you’ll deliver engaging, high-quality swimming and water safety lessons to children and adults of all abilities. Working alongside our Learn to Swim Coordinator and Swimming Pool Team Leader, you’ll help create a safe, inclusive and fun aquatic environment that promotes lifelong water safety skills.
We are looking for someone to:

  • Deliver structured Learn to Swim and water safety lessons
  • Adapt programs to suit individual abilities and learning styles
  • Create a positive, encouraging and safe learning environment
  • Communicate with parents and carers about progress and programs
  • Promote water safety and aquatic programs within the community
  • Work collaboratively with instructors, lifeguards and pool staff
  • Assist with other pool duties when qualified and required

About you

   Essential:

  • Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification
  • Queensland Blue Card
  • Experience in teaching swimming to children and/or adults

   Highly Regarded:

  • Pool Lifeguard qualification
  • Experience in aquatic facility operations
  • Strong communication skills, patience and enthusiasm
  • A genuine passion for customer service and community wellbeing
