Media & Communications Officer
Cook Shire Council is looking for a creative, organised and community-minded Media and Communications Officer to help share our story, connect with our community, and promote the initiatives that make Cook Shire such a unique place to live and work.
This role plays a key part in delivering engaging media, marketing and communications that enhance Council’s reputation and strengthen relationships with our community and stakeholders.

What you'll be doing
- Support Council’s communications and engagement activities across media, digital and marketing channels
- Help deliver compelling content that aligns with Council’s brand and strategic objectives
- Build positive relationships with media, internal teams and the community
- Assist in promoting Council programs, events and initiatives that make a real difference locally
- Create engaging content for Council’s website, social media, newsletters and other channels
- Monitor media coverage relevant to Council
- Respond to media enquiries professionally and in a timely manner
What we're looking for
- Qualifications or relevant experience in media, communications or marketing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing digital platforms, including WordPress and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn and X)
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office
- Experience using tools such as Canva, Mailchimp and SurveyMonkey
- Well-developed organisational and time-management skills
- A current Class C driver licence
