Cook Shire Council is seeking an enthusiastic Swimming Teacher on a casual basis to join our friendly team at the Cooktown Community Swimming Pool.
About the role
As a Casual Swimming Teacher, you’ll deliver engaging, high-quality swimming and water safety lessons to children and adults of all abilities. Working alongside our Learn to Swim Coordinator and Swimming Pool Team Leader, you’ll help create a safe, inclusive and fun aquatic environment that promotes lifelong water safety skills.
We are looking for someone to:
- Deliver structured Learn to Swim and water safety lessons
- Adapt programs to suit individual abilities and learning styles
- Create a positive, encouraging and safe learning environment
- Communicate with parents and carers about progress and programs
- Promote water safety and aquatic programs within the community
- Work collaboratively with instructors, lifeguards and pool staff
- Assist with other pool duties when qualified and required
About you
Essential:
- Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Queensland Blue Card
- Experience in teaching swimming to children and/or adults
Highly Regarded:
- Pool Lifeguard qualification
- Experience in aquatic facility operations
- Strong communication skills, patience and enthusiasm
- A genuine passion for customer service and community wellbeing
