Cook Shire Council is seeking a passionate and community-focused Community Recovery and Resilience Officer – (CRRO) to lead recovery initiatives and long-term risk reduction across bushfire-impacted areas of the northern part of Cook Shire.
Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, We are excited to offer a fixed term position to build capacity in preparedness and resilience with in the community for future disasters!
What you’ll be doing:
- Establish a trusted local presence in Coen and surrounding communities.
- Engage with residents, landholders, First Nations communities and local organisations.
- Facilitate community workshops, planning sessions and resilience activities.
- Identify local strengths, challenges and recovery priorities.
- Assist communities to develop and implement Local Community Recovery and Resilience Plans.
- Contribute to initiatives aligned with Cook Shire's disaster management and recovery strategies.
- Encourage community-led solutions and sustainable recovery initiatives.
What we’re looking for:
- Qualifications and/or substantial experience in emergency management, community development, disaster recovery or a related field.
- Knowledge of Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements.
- Understanding of disaster recovery funding programs and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and reporting abilities.
- A proactive, adaptable and community-centred approach.
