We're looking for two enthusiastic Civil Works Labourers to join our hard-working Civil Construction team — real hands-on work, real teamwork, and a real difference in one of Queensland's most spectacular regions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Civil Works Labourer, you'll provide high-quality labouring support across Council's civil construction and maintenance program — from roads and drainage to bridges, footpaths and parks. You'll work alongside a close-knit crew who take pride in keeping our infrastructure safe, functional and built to last.
This is a physically active, outdoors role for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork and getting the job done right.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Support the construction, maintenance and repair of roads, drainage, bridges, footpaths and parks
- Assist with pothole repairs, grading support, drainage works, concreting and pavement maintenance
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools and small plant relevant to the role
- Carry out pre-start checks and report faults or maintenance needs promptly
- Complete basic records, timesheets and site documentation
- Deliver friendly, professional service to the community
- Pitch in on emergency response and disaster recovery activities when needed
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Current Queensland Class ‘C’ Driver’s Licence
- Current General Construction Induction card (White Card)
- The physical fitness for demanding outdoor labouring work
- Willingness to work throughout the Cook Shire region, including camping away from home when required
- Experience in civil construction, maintenance or similar labouring work (desirable)
- A positive, team-first attitude and a strong safety mindset
