We are looking for a self-motivated, reliable and capable individual to join the Cooktown Botanic Gardens team in the capacity of Horticulturist. 

If you are a team player with a 'can do' attitude and keen to be part of the historical links through the botanic collections of Banks and Solander from hundreds of years ago, and conservation of rare and threatened species today, then this might be the job for you?

This role provides the opportunity to work in a dynamic small team environment, share in the enriched history and culture, care for the living plant collections and to enhance the visual landscape of the Cooktown Botanic Gardens.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a strong work ethic.
  • a keen eye for detail.
  • Good customer service skills including the ability to engage with visitors and other clients in a tourist destination.
  • Sound horticultural knowledge and experience, nursery experience (desirable).
  • Be physically fit.

Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B: Division 2, Section 5)  Award - State 2017. Between $63K - $65K per annum subject to qualifications and experience
