An amazing opportunity exists for a motivated individual who has a strong sense of community and respect for our environment.

Based at the Cooktown Waste Transfer Station, this is a full time position working 4 days per week, Tuesday to Friday, including working Sundays on a rotating roster.

This position is responsible for undertaking a range of tasks associated with the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Cooktown Waste Transfer Station.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operate waste management equipment including truck, excavator and bobcat.
  • Perform kerbside collection duties.
  • Site office operations, including customer service, fee collection.
  • Committed to delivering a high level of service to all community members.
  • Contribute toward the smooth operation of waste recycling and recovery processes.  
  • Maintenance and upkeep of facility and grounds.
  • Support Queensland's 'Zero Waste Strategy'.
  • General labouring duties.
  • Adhere to all workplace health and safety and environmental policies and procedures
